Dear WordPress…

September 16, 2009 by kswalters

…I’m sorry to have to tell you this, but I’m leaving. I’ve launched a new blog, over at www.prettygoodworks.blogspot.com.

It isn’t anything you did. It was all me.

I changed. I got all caught up in the world of Etsy, where everyone blogs on Blogger and follows each other thru Google Friend Connect and gets awesome blog backgrounds for free, and, well, the list goes on. It’s what all the cool kids are doing. And I’m afraid I’ve jumped on the bandwagon, too.

I hope you will forgive me, WordPress. You were my first blog love. And you still hold a special place in my heart.

PS, you’re welcome to come see me anytime.

love, Kristin

Today’s Featured Artisan!

Today I wrote about ANYcards on handmadenews.org. Read the article here.

She makes super-awesome stuff, some of which I have purchased!

Here’s just one of my current faves from her shop:

I’ve been a blog slacker

Here’s one of the reasons why. I’ve begun writing for a few different craft-related publications online, and the first of my articles ran today. It’s about a company called Pastelly, makers of the coolest stuffies I’ve ever seen, such as these:

Aren’t they the coolest? Now go read the article and tell them how much you love their stuff (because you know you do) in the comments!

Phew!

It’s been a busy weekend – not only were we at Grandma and Grandpa’s, but I also managed to sell a bunch of these cuties thanks to the Etsy Finds email. That was just one of the highlights of my weekend.

Another highlight was attempt #2 to get on a game show with my friend Sara. As you may recall, we recently auditioned for TPIR. While we were there, we were informed of a NEW game show along the lines of Deal or No Deal that would be filming live in a week. We got tickets and babysitters, and rounded up our hubbies for a Sunday night adventure.

Here’s me and my sweetie – having a delicious dinner in the Mystic Lake Casino Food Court…

And Sara and hers, in our original “nosebleed” seats in the auditorium (they were assigned, we ended up a row apart from each other):

This is the view from our seats:

Now, here’s the thing you need to understand about my friend Sara. She is incredibly energetic, spontaneous, and enthusiastic. She walked into the casino and started saying “ca-ching, ca-ching, ca-ching!!!” She’s a joy to be around cause she’s just so goofy and fun. She’s also fun to be around because she attracts unusual situations.

A couple of minutes after we sat down and got settled, a producer walked up to her and her husband and said “we need energy in the front. Come with me.”

She said, “They’re with me,” and pointed at me and my hubby. He said, “Ok, come on,” and we did.

These were our new seats:

She cracks me up. That’s why I love hanging out with her.

Plus, she gets me on TV!

It’s a good day…

My family circles necklace is in the Etsy Finds newsletter today! The article is also published online via their blog, The Storque. Find it here.

I also got another necklace accepted into Craftgawker. Stop by and give it some love (by clicking on the little heart under the picture).  While you’re there, check out this one and this one too!

I’m a happy, happy lady!

I should be studying…

August 5, 2009 by kswalters

Ok, so I might not do well on my drawing final. I had fun with the class, but it’s hard to get motivated to read all this stuff when I could be making pretty things like these:

BTS-2(the new back to school necklace)

faith-1(the soon-to-be-listed Faith necklace)

imagine-3(the soon-to-be-listed Imagine necklace)

I’d better get to work! Just can’t decide if it will be studying or listing items on Etsy…hmmm, yeah, Etsy wins!!

I just want to play Plinko…

August 3, 2009 by kswalters

Sometime between now and next spring, you COULD see me or my friend Sara on The Price Is Right. We auditioned on Saturday.

DSC00613{Sara is the blonde in the front, I’m the brunette. Like my necklace?}

For my audition, I was asked one question: “Why do you want to be on The Price Is Right?”

My answer was simple: “So that I can give Drew a great big hug, spin the wheel, and hopefully play Plinko.”

The camera man asked me, “Is that it?” (I had 30 seconds to sell myself, and this was all I could come up with.)

I said “Yeah, pretty much.”

I’m pretty certain they were stunned by my creativity, and will be calling me soon. California, here I come!

Now until midnight August 2

And the winner is…#12!

Ok, I used random.org’s number generator (counting 31 entries, cause I decided to go all strict and ONLY include the comments attached to the giveaway post, since those were the instructions) and came up with #12! And the 12th comment came from Amy – congrats, I will be in touch with you shortly…my girlie is still sick so I’m having trouble getting on the computer but I wanted to check in with y’all.

Thanks for visiting and entering! As soon as I get my act together I’m going to put up a special Grand Opening sale deal in my shop…keep an eye on it!

Giveaway Update…

July 29, 2009 by kswalters

Ok, the giveaway post is still below – you have until  midnight tonight to enter! My hands are full with a sick kiddo today (I think this is ear infection #805…but her first one since getting tubes a few months ago, so I guess that is good?) – so I might not be able to approve all the comments right away. But I will make sure everything is approved and you’re all entered before I pick the winner (using the random number generator, that is!).

And now my sick kiddo is trying to eat her shoe, so I must go…

UPDATE FROM 8:30 PM:

I’m excited to give something away and so happy you all came to visit! I can’t wait to check out all of your blogs, etsy shops, tweets, etc. I spent most of the day with a toddler in my arms, unable to get online…and am not sure how tomorrow is going to go…but I promise to post the winner as soon as I possibly can in the morning. Just as soon as I can get my hands free!
